La reducción a cero de los accidentes ocurridos en el tramo Higuey-La Romana-Higuey por parte de los transportistas de empresas turísticas de la zona Este es atribuida a la capacitación y concienciación de la que han sido objeto por parte del Ministerio de Trabajo y el Instituto de Formación Técnico Profesional (Infotep). Así lo manifestó el ministro de Trabajo, doctor Max Puig, quien participó en la entrega de certificados a 635 transportistas de empresas turísticas, tras recibir informes de los resultados del entrenamiento intensivo en manejo defensivo realizado por el Infotep, como parte de las acciones de capacitación de la Agenda Bávaro Punta Cana de Trabajo Decente.
Resaltó que el nivel de impacto de esta capacitación ha sido tal, que los accidentes que ocurren actualmente en ese tramo carretero se atribuyen a conductores que todavía no han participado en el proceso de entrenamiento o a personas privadas.
Puig, al dirigirse a los transportistas, recordó el compromiso del sector turístico en el desarrollo del país y la necesidad de que cada persona obtenga los mejores niveles de capacitación, en provecho propio y de la colectividad a la que pertenece.
Asimismo, Puig destacó que el manejo defensivo es directamente proporcional al desarrollo del turismo, ya que en la medida en que se reducen los accidentes de tránsito, se incrementa el turismo, lo que repercute positivamente en la economía nacional.
Recordó que trabajo y empleo son los ejes fundamentales del desarrollo económico, y resaltó la responsabilidad del Ministerio de impulsar políticas activas de empleo, a fin de que más dominicanos y dominicanas tengan acceso a un trabajo bien retribuido, elementos sobre los que se asienta el Trabajo Decente.
“Los cuatro pilares que sostienen al Ministerio de Trabajo son el desarrollo de una cultura de cumplimiento de la normativa laboral, más y mejores empleos, impulsar la igualdad de oportunidades y la no discriminación, y el desarrollo y consolidación del Sistema de Seguridad Social”, dijo.
Los transportistas, quienes participaron en 24 acciones formativas con un total de 192 horas, recibieron instrucción por parte de un equipo de técnicos de alta calificación y experiencia. Estos trabajadores del volante, que representan al sector turístico, realizan sus actividades en la provincia de La Altagracia con los empresarios del transporte en esa ciudad y sobre todo en la Zona de Bávaro- Punta Cana.
El programa de capacitación realizado en beneficio de los trabajadores del transporte de la provincia La Altagracia es promovido por el Ministerio de Trabajo, el Infotep y representantes del sector de transporte turístico, como forma de reducir, a través de la educación, los constantes accidentes que ocurrían en el trayecto Higuey-Romana y viceversa.
El proyecto educativo se inició con un plan intensivo de formación en manejo defensivo, acordado en diferentes fases, la primera de las cuales culminó el año pasado y cuyos participantes reciben sus certificados en el día de hoy.
La actividad fue encabezada por el Ministro de Trabajo y la directora del Instituto de Formación Técnico Profesional (Infotep), licenciada Josefina Pimentel. Estuvieron presentes además, Leonel Durán, encargado regional Este del Infotep; José Ramírez, secretario general de la Confederación Sindical Clasista (Casc), seccional Higuey y Héctor Castillo, presidente de la Asociación de Transporte de Empleados Turísticos de la provincia La Altagracia.
